Controls is an element in graphical user interface that displays information and is changeable by a user.

Contextual tabs

Contextual tab is when you click a picture or chart and a tab shows up in the top of the ribbon.

context sensitive is when different behavior id controlled depending on the solution or task.

conditional formatting

Conditional formatting is a method of changing cells in excel that id based on its value.

compatibilty mode

Compatibility mode is a software or feature in a computer that can help the computer run older versions of software or open older version of documents.

Comparis is a grid that compares information of usually 2 things.

A close button is a red button on the upper left in windows that close the current window.

A clipboard is a tab in word that has options to paste something.

Clip art is graphical art that helps decorate a document(clip art is a picture format).

A citation is a format in some websites that help you gather up information in a nice neat order.

Circular reference is a loop made up of series of references.

A center is like the middle of an object or region.

A cell address is like a combination of a row and column that go to a specific cell.

Cash flow analysis is the study of business cycles that usually show the rate of money(cash).

Auto Recover is a feature in computers that save documents that is open automatically so when something happens to the computer, the document is still there.

Lab3 wordart Raheel Siddiqui

  In word art you can change the style of word. the first thing i did was type my name in blogger and than i went to the insert tab on the ribbon, selected word art and selected the design that i wanted. next i went to word art styles and selected the rainbow. i clicked folow path and selected the circle design. then i went to 3-d effects and selected rotate in perspective. Then i went to shadoow effects and selected perspective shadow. Next i went ot he bucket and selected the color that i wanted. then i copied and pasted to power point and saved as a JPEG file so it is a image and then i uploaded it to blogger.

Auto fit

Auto fit is when it automatically determines the width and height of columns and rows based on the content.

Auto Complete

Auto complete is a feature in softwares like word and internet browsers that predict what the user will type in next.

Attachment

An attachment is when a file is attached when sending an email.

Argument

Argument is a value that is passed on to a program that perform certain tasks.

Application Software

Application Software are applications that allow the users to perform a certain task.

Animations

Animation is an amount of images that are usually 3-d or 2-d and are needed in order to allow illusion of movement.

Anchor

Anchor allows the user to fix graphical settings so that text and images for example are grouped together.

Is a way of citating a website or book of where the information was received from.

LAB2 Common Skills

1) when you press Alt + Tab a little menu shows up in the middle of the screen that allows you to switch between applications.
2) to change the font you go to the font tab, click the first box and select the font. to change the font size you click the box next to it and select the font size. To do bullet points you go to the paragraph tab and click the bullets box. To change the line spacing you go to the paragraph tab and click the small box with arrows going up and down called "line spacing."  To change the view go to the view tab and go to the show/hide tab and check the boxes.
3) Microsoft word and powerpoint are different because in order to change the columns in powerpoint, the option is located in the paragraph tab.

Alignment

An alignment is when you put parts of devices near each other so that they match.

ActiveX Controls

ActiveX Control is are small types of programs and they add other information and features to a webpage or window.

Active cell

Active cell is is the current box in a spreadsheet that the person is about to input information in.

Absolute cell reference

Absolute cell reference is in spreadsheet applications and shows information of different groups in the spreadsheet and it never changes. 

3-D pie chart

A 3-d piechart is a image that is a circular shape that displays data and looks like a real image. it pops out at the person looking at it.

Word-processing software is a software that is used to create and edit text.

A wizard is a a setup that helps installs devices and software in the computer.

Windows Explorer is an application that provides information about the files and folders.

A window is a visual area that contains user interface.

Wildcard character is a symbol represents more than one character.

Wide area network

Wide area network is a network that covers an area.

Virus

A virus is a computer program that con copy itself and infect and damage the computer.

Utility software is a software designed to maintain and analyze the computer to keep it in good condition.
